Beautiful Backyard Oasis

This backyard project started with a challenge: transforming a steep, unusable hillside into a stunning outdoor living space for a family to enjoy. The primary goal was to install a new gunite pool and spa combo while creating additional flat, usable areas to achieve a beautiful backyard oasis. Despite the complexity, Greathouse’s talented designer, Bob Chappin, crafted an exciting plan that thrilled the homeowners.

We started by removing a small deck from the only usable area and excavating large amounts of soil to prepare for construction. With the necessary retaining walls in place, the pool excavation followed, leading to the formation and application of gunite. Next, we built additional retaining walls to create tiered living spaces.

The hardscaped areas were enhanced with unique materials, including travertine tile, decomposed granite, and natural stone veneer, which added character and beauty to the space. After completing the hardscape, Greathouse installed a new irrigation system and implemented Bob’s exceptional planting plan, bringing life and vibrancy to the overall design.

The result? Homeowners who love their transformed backyard and use the space almost daily. This project was truly a fantastic one to be a part of and we’re looking forward to maintaining this property in the future.
